Deux soeurs, Sara et Lily ont toutes deux grandi dans la petite ville de Smith Mountain Lake. Sara mène une brillante carrière d’avocate à Los Angeles et vit à cent à l’heure. Lily est restée dans sa ville natale et mène une vie paisible en tant que professeur d’arts plastiques. Alors qu’elle est sur le point d’obtenir la vie de ses rêves : la mort accidentelle de leur père va pousser Sara à retourner chez sa mère pour assister aux funérailles. Entre rires et larmes, toutes les trois vont s’apercevoir qu’elles sont bien plus liées qu’elles ne le pensaient et vont devoir se battre pour sauver leur maison...
