L'agent secret britannique David Grant est à la recherche du docteur Hansen, un scientifique suédois spécialiste des questions atomiques, disparu depuis six mois. Ses travaux ayant été envoyés à l'agent allemand Keitel, en Irlande, Grant embarque sur un bateau pour Dublin. Wilson, un autre espion anglais, a lui aussi fait le voyage pour Dublin, dans le but de mettre la main sur les documents secrets. Il n'en est jamais revenu, assassiné par un agent des nazis...
