Matt Ryder et Tom Fallon ont assassiné Bowie Moore et ont pris son ranch. Bud Ringo, qui était le contremaître du ranch est à son tour grièvement blessé et chassé. Son frère, le champion de rodéo Johnny Ringo, vient venger son frère, et, se faisant passer pour un cow-boy pas très doué, se fait engager comme aide-cuisinier. Mais la nuit,il commence sa vengeance.
