Le directeur d'un journal Blake Washburn se sert de son journal pour s'attaquer à l'industriel McFarlane qui l'a battu aux dernières élections de conseiller d'état. Sa secrétaire Iris Martin l'aide. C'est McFarlane qui va sauver entre-temps la jeune soeur de Blake, victime d'un accident, ce qui va changer le jugement de Blake à l'égard de l'industriel.
