Libby Boland, accompagnée de son amie Michelle, est une wedding planner qui fait tout son possible pour organiser le mariage dont ses clients ont toujours rêvé, peu importe le coût. Malheureusement, sa petite entreprise connaît des difficultés. Ainsi, le couple d'Alex et Annie semble être tombé du ciel, même si ces derniers ne savent pas vraiment ce qu'ils veulent. Au salon du mariage, Libby rencontre le charmant Ben Reynolds, un ancien conseiller financier qui vient de sortir un livre. Il y soutient qu'un mariage n'a pas besoin d'être fastueux, ce qui rend Libby furieuse car cela remet en cause l'existence même de son travail.
