Le pharaon Cheops est obsédé par l'or et souhaite emporter son trésor dans la tombe, afin d'en profiter quand il se réincarnera. Il demande à l'architecte Vashtar de lui construire un tombeau somptueux et inviolable. En échange, il lui promet de libérer son peuple, réduit en esclavage. Mais la nouvelle femme du pharaon a d'autres plans.
