La grandeur, la chute et la renaissance de la Hammer, entreprise phare du cinéma populaire britannique, principalement de 1955 à 1968. Femmes torturées et monstres sadiques peuplaient des scénarios oppressants dans des productions provocantes qui choquaient la censure et dégoûtaient les critiques mais fascinaient le public. Des films dans lesquels l'horreur était montrée sous des couleurs offensives : des histoires terribles, racontées sans préjugés, qui offraient la peur, le sang, le sexe et des performances époustouflantes.
