À l'hiver 1942 en Biélorussie, un groupe de soldats, de femmes et d'enfants se cachent dans la forêt pour échapper aux Allemands. Pour assurer son ravitaillement, deux partisans entament un long périple au plus profond du territoire occupé à la recherche de munitions et de nourriture, un voyage qui les mènera aussi au plus profond de leur âme…
